About the Book

When Nadine Quintana began her six-month volunteer stint as head surgeon at a UNICEF camp in the Sudan, she thought it would be one more item on an already long list of career accomplishments. But charity work attracts more than just the good-at-heart. Johnathan Hastings, her celebrity crush and arguably the world’s hottest man, disrupts her entire world when his helicopter lands in her camp. As one of the camp directors, it’s Nadine’s job to make sure Johnathan feels at home. How does one talk to a star without tripping all over themselves, anyway? Emilia DeSanto has problems of her own. As the camp’s head of security, she takes her job seriously and always reads the flight manifest. She’s not the least bit surprised when movie star, Bennett Gardner, disembarks. As far as she’s concerned, it’s also her job to ensure Bennett returns home with more than just fan service. As for Bennett and Johnathan...these poor men have no idea what’s in store for them.

Marriage, Mobsters, and the Marine: A #Romance #Novel by Kryssie Fortune

Kryssie Fortune writes the sort of hot sexy books she loves to read. If she can sneak a dragon into her paranormal books she will. Her paranormal heroes are muscular werewolves, arrogant Fae or BDSM loving dragons.

Kryssie likes her contemporary heroes ex-military and dominant. Her heroines are kick-ass females who can hold their own against whatever life - or Kryssie - throws at them.

Kryssie's pet hates are unhappy endings, and a series that end on a cliffhanger.

Her books are all stand alone even when part of series. Plot always comes before sex, but when her heroines and heroes get together, the sex is explosive and explicit. One review called it downright sensual.

From Zero to Superhero – Well…US Marine

Run at over six miles per hour for twenty-eight minutes? You have to be kidding me.

How about 50 or more crunchies in less than 2 minutes? I’d be laid on the floor crying.

If you want to become a US Marine, though, the recruiters expect this and more.

Marines need to be strong, tough, and smart. Above I’ve talked about minimum standards. To achieve a top score, a candidate must manage a 3 mile run in 18 minutes, perform 100 crunchies in 2 minutes, and do 20 pull-ups.

That means running at 10 mph for eighteen minutes.

Just getting through that lot would kill me.

Training starts as soon as the recruit gets on the bus to the base. A drill instructor acquaints them with Military law and tells them they are now subject to it. Once they disembark, they line up on yellow footsteps painted on the floor. Here, they learn to stand to attention and have their uniforms issued. Next step, military haircut.

The recruits are issued with their rifles, have medicals, and vaccinations where needed. The whole receiving process takes about three days—usually without sleep, then the recruit faces the Initial Strength Test.

To pass, a male recruit must complete at least three pull-ups, 45 crunchies in two minutes, and run 1.5 miles (2.4 km) in 13:30 minutes or less. The female recruits must hold a “flexed arm hang” (hanging on a bar with their arms bent) for at least 12 seconds, complete 45 crunchies in two minutes, and run 1.5 miles in 14 minutes and 30 seconds or less.

All without sleep. I’d be a wreck.

The training only intensifies from there, with drill instructors constantly harassing the recruits to ensure they can cope with battlefield stress.

The recruits learn about teamwork, weapons, and fighting. One of the worst things a drill sergeant can yell at them is that they should have joined the navy instead.

Twelve weeks later, if you can meet the physical and mental challenges, you’re ready for the passing out parade. Only, for a Marine, it’s a passing out run past their families while shouting out Marine Cadences. They circle the base and assemble on a parade ground.

Once the ceremony is complete, the Marines are granted on-base leave to show their families around. After one last march the following morning, the recruit gets ten days leave.

I’d need ten years to recover from this.

If the recruit survives all this, he’ll get yet more training before he’s assigned to a platoon.

No wonder the Marines claim theirs is the toughest service to enter.

Enchanted Desire by Paul Lonardo

I have had published both fiction and non-fiction book published, including titles that have been excerpted in Reader’s Digest (Caught in the Act, Penguin Group, 2011) and reviewed in Publisher’s Weekly (Life, with Cancer, Health Communications, Inc., foreword by Anna Quindlen, 2012).

From the Ashes, a 2010 collaborative book written with a Gina Russo, who survived the deadly 2003 Station Nightclub fire in RI which claimed the lives of 100 people, became the basis of a 2013 documentary web series, The Station.

Thrill Killers is a 2007 true crime book (New Horizon Press, Berkley paperback, 2008) written with the Johnston, Rhode Island detective who headed the investigation of a brutal double homicide.

I was interviewed as part of NBC’s documentary program, I Survived a Serial Killer, featuring the true crime story depicted in the book Caught in the Act.

I had my first romance book published (Reunion of Souls, Liquid Silver Press, June 2015).

I recently had my second romance novella Enchanted Desire published by Wild Rose Press, released on June 17, 2016

Enchanted Desire, published by The Wild Rose Press, tells the story of a beautiful young college student, Shanna, who is looking for a fresh start and a way out of a bad relationship. She meets and falls in love with Kenny, a sexy 6 foot 8 Native American university professor, who himself is embarking upon a spiritual journey and must leave for a while. Kenny gives Shanna the incentive to rely upon her inner strength to leave her neglectful boyfriend, which she does. He also gives her a special gift that allows them to be together even while they are apart. Their spirits and their sexual desire for one another are satisfied with the help of a little imagination…and a magical object.

The official book blurb:

I had my life all planned out...until I met him. Kenny Honana is sexy and alluring. Mysterious. I’d always been drawn to the Native American heritage, and now I found myself dream-deep in a supernatural tribal ritual. Little did I know, his vision quest would involve me in a sexual odyssey beyond my wildest dreams. But when the quest is over...what becomes of us.

When you dare to dream, you might as well dream to have it all.

My disappointment quickly turned to delight when I saw the tall, broad figure that cut through the steam in the room. I knew it was Kenny right away.

“I had to see you.” Kenny’s voice boomed like thunder in my ears, making my body shudder.

“How did you—” I could not finish what I was going to say before Kenny crossed the room to the bathtub in three strides and gently put the tips of two fingers against my lips. “Sh-hhhhh.”

The sibilating sound lulled me back into tranquility. He slowly ran the fingers of his right hand along my jawline to my ear and then down the nape of my neck, he did the same with his tongue on the other side of my face. I shivered even in the heat of the steaming bath water. Cupping the sides of my face in his hands, he drew his head toward me and kissed me deeply.

Blog Tour: An Improper Governess (An Improper Liaisons Novella, Book 2) By Amy Rose Bennett

Amy Rose Bennett has always wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. An avid reader with a particular love for historical romance, it seemed only natural to write stories in her favorite genre. She has a passion for creating emotion-packed—and sometimes a little racy—stories set in the Georgian and Regency periods. Of course, her strong-willed heroines and rakish heroes always find their happily ever after.

Amy is happily married to her own Alpha male hero, has two beautiful daughters, and a rather loopy Rhodesian Ridgeback. She has been a speech pathologist for many years but is currently devoting her time to her one other true calling—writing romance.

About the Book

Lusting after one’s employer is certainly not the done thing when you are a governess. But Miss Abigail Adams cannot seem to help herself...

Abigail Adams, the resident governess of Hartfield Hall, might appear to be a very proper young woman, yet she secretly yearns for excitement to brighten her mundane life. And what she does want, she really shouldn’t long for—Sir Nicholas Barsby, the indecently handsome, charismatic master of Hartfield.

Sir Nicholas Barsby returns home from a tour of the Continent to discover his widowed sister-in-law has employed a decidedly delectable governess for his nieces. When it becomes blatantly apparent that the attraction is mutual, Nicholas ruthlessly decides to present Miss Adams with a thoroughly wicked proposal.

Abigail is initially shocked by Sir Nicholas’s outrageous and highly improper offer to become his mistress. Having wanton thoughts about a man is undoubtedly sinful but leading the life of a fallen woman is something else entirely. Nevertheless, falling into Sir Nicholas’s arms might just prove to be an invitation too tempting for Abigail to ignore. One thing is clear, whether she’s a governess or mistress, she must not lose her heart...

By the time she reached the stile, Abigail was gasping like a landed carp. As she gathered her skirts preparing to climb over, thunder clapped so close, she shrieked. A bright bolt of lightning lit the air around her and she swore she could feel her hair stand on end. Ignoring all dictates of decorum, she hoisted her skirts even higher and clambered up and over the rough wooden steps. However, as she jumped down, the muslin snagged on something and she found she was tethered like a nanny goat, her skirts caught up about her waist.

“Damn!” Without thought, the coarse expletive escaped her. Not only was she about to get caught in a storm she’d probably ruined her best day gown. Could this day get any worse?

“Damn indeed.”

It seemed it could.

Abigail whipped her head around and found herself staring up into the face of the most handsome man she had ever seen. Raven-haired with slashing brows and chiseled features, he sat astride a glossy black gelding with the confidence of a knight-errant, but alas, not the gallantry. As his deep blue eyes raked over her naked thighs and lower to her stockings, his expression was a mixture of sardonic amusement and a darker, heavier emotion she had no trouble recognizing at all—male lust.

“May I be of assistance, dear lady?” he asked, his voice a rich rumbling purr.

Abigail’s face burned as she attempted to wrench her dress and fine cambric petticoats down all by herself. The distinct rip of fabric tearing made her wince. “You might avert your gaze, sir,” she snapped as hot outrage and mortification made her sound more like a harpy than a damsel in distress.

“Yes, I might. But then, that would not be of much help to you now, would it?” Before Abigail could even think to protest further, the ill-mannered stranger slid from his mount and within moments, had released the stubborn snag.

“There,” he said with a wide smile that was probably supposed to be rakishly appealing. “The fair maiden is free.”

“I could have managed on my own,” she retorted. She wasn’t going to thank the man, not when he’d been eyeing her lower body like a hungry beast of prey sizing up its next meal. Dear God, I hope he did not see my bottom, or worse, my—

Another crack of thunder made her start and the man glanced at the menacing sky. Lightning streaked above the dense copse of trees hiding Hartfield Hall from view. As he mounted his restive horse, a sharp gust caught his black traveling cloak and it flapped about him like the dark wings of a fallen angel.

Perhaps even Lucifer himself. “Where are you going, Miss...?” he asked, his compelling blue gaze locking with hers again. “I really don’t think you should be wandering about the countryside in this tempest. In fact, it would be quite foolish if not altogether mad. I must insist you come with me.” He held out his gloved hand.

But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him. From the start, I knew he was trouble. Do you have a "day job"? If so, what do you do?

Writing is my full time job. I work roughly 50 hours a week and that is evenly divided between writing and marketing.

What genres do you write?

Contemporary Romance
Erotic Romance
Erotic Suspense

Is there a genre that you've been wanting to experiment with? If so, what is it and what attracts you to it?

I have two ideas in my head -- one is a time traveler book, the other has more of a paranormal aspect... both of those I have sort of set aside for now. I think they both deserve a series, and I'm not in a place in my writing calendar where I can commit to more than one book at a time. I'd also love to write YA -- there is something so exciting and innocent about that time in a person's life. But my brand is so adult... I need to figure out the right way to move into that genre and make sure that I have a book that is worth it.

What inspires you to write?

I have stories inside that are bursting to come out. I often get impatient with my current works-in-progress because I am so anxious to get to the next book in my head. If I am ever short of inspiration I do a lot of reading and watching tv. Naps and walks also help.

What authors/books have most influenced you?

On Writing by Stephen King is the book that made me first put on my writer's hat -- it broke down the process of writing a book and really made it seem like a manageable journey. I love to read Gillian Flynn, Lisa Gardner and Liane Moriarty.

If you could choose an author to be your mentor, who would it be?

Nora Roberts. She has managed, despite her huge catalogue to still be fresh and exciting. I'd love to learn from her.

When did you first consider yourself an author?

Probably when I signed my first print deal. It was a two-book deal with Harlequin and really put me a position where I felt confident in my writing.

What made you decide to self-publish?

I never really considered any other option. I didn't have the confidence in my writing (or the patience) to query agents and publishers. I saw self-publishing as a great way to quietly put out my book and see what readers thought. I loved the freedom and independence of self-publishing. And now, after 5 traditionally published books, I'm not sure if I'll ever leave self-publishing again. I much prefer having 100% control and freedom with my books.

What fears do you have about writing and being an indie author? How do you cope with your fears?

At this point, with 12 published books, my fears are more on business related matters, rather than content. I worry about covers and formatting. I worry that there will be a glitch in a release, or that my preorders will disappear overnight. I have silly fears like dying while I am halfway through writing a book, and that that story will never be told. But I have grown confident enough in my writing that I don't worry about the reception. Which is good. One less thing to worry about. :)

Are you a pantser or outliner?

Pantser. Definitely. I've tried to write with an outline but it felt boring and contrived.

How long does it take you to write a book?

4-6 weeks to write the first draft. Then another month on rewrites and edits. Then I spend about a month promoting before release.

How do you come up with the titles for your books? Do you find it difficult?

Book titles either come very easily -- a word or phrase standing out during the writing process... or stumps me completely. With my most recent book, Love Chloe, I let the readers pick the title. That worked out well.

What are you working on now?

I'm finishing up the first draft of Love, Chloe. It releases on March 14th, so I need to hurry up and finish so that I can go through rewrites and polishes before release.

Do you have any advice for other authors?

Don't write to sell books. You will never be happy and it is so hard to succeed as a writer right now. You need to write because it makes you happy, and because you have a story in you that needs to be told. I have a lot of blog posts that new writers find helpful, you can see them on my website.

Out of Oblivion by Taren Reese Ocoda Countdown Deal

Taren Reese Ocoda is actually a pen name I've decided to use for writing my sci-fi and erotic romance stories. I write fantasy under my real name and decided that I wanted to keep the two genres separate.

I live in Australia with my husband and daughter. I'm originally from America, but I moved out here a bit over ten years ago to be with my (now) husband. We met online and I came out here just for a visit so we could meet in person, and I've been here ever since. Ten years later we are still happily married, so we're living proof that it can work! :-D

We have two cats, named Padme and Anakin—you couldn't tell from that, that I'm a Star Wars fan—and two guinea pigs, named Sith and Prince.

I love to read fantasy mostly, but I've been reading more romance lately as a result of meeting some really good indie romance authors who turned me onto it. I'm very picky about what I read though. Anything I read has to have a great story with characters that feel real to me. Those are the stories that really draw me in.

They're also the kinds of stories I try (and hopefully succeed at) writing. I had some ideas for romance stories in mind, but for a long time I didn't think I had the skills to write one. I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing either. Now with the sci-fi romance genre out there, it's intrigued me enough to give it a try. So I really hope you enjoy!

An excerpt from Out of Oblivion

I hated parties. I always have. It's not that I wasn't a social person. I didn't like loud, crowded spaces that reeked of smoke and stale alcohol with drunk and high people running around like idiots. And, okay, I wasn't a social person. I didn't mind spending time with friends, but most of the time I was happiest on my own, in my quiet room with a good book. My best friend, Alexis Dalton, on the other hand, was a complete social butterfly.

"We're going to a party tonight," Alexis announced the minute I walked through our shared dorm room's door as she primped herself in front of a mirror.

She wore her black mini skirt, which she could pull off with her body, and a black lace top with nothing more than a black lace bra underneath. She completed the ensemble with her favorite fishnet stockings and black high heeled boots. Alexis was planning to get laid, which meant one of two things. She would leave the party in tears, in which case I would spend the night trying to console her. Or she would stay the night, in which case I'd be too worried to leave her. Either way, if I went, I wouldn't be getting much sleep that night.

I groaned. "What party?"

"You remember Jason Hansen?"

I fell onto my bunk and pulled the pillow over my face. After the day I had, all I wanted was a nap. "You mean the junior you're all hot and bothered over and don't shut up about? Yeah. How can I forget?"

Alexis yanked the pillow away, rolling her eyes. "Well, yeah. He invited me, and I think he might finally ask me out."

"You keep saying that every time you invite yourself to whatever party he's planning to be at," I said as I lifted myself onto my elbows.

"Yeah, but this time I didn't invite myself. He told me he likes me, but he can't date me until I understand something about him."

I narrowed my eyes. "That sounds a bit ominous. What? Is he a vampire or something?"

"You read too much," Alexis said, then laughed. "So will you go?"

"If you're going with Jason, why do you need me there? I'm not in a party mood."

Alexis sighed. "You're never in a party mood, and Jason won't be there until later. He has to work, but he said I can go early if I want so I can… explore."

She knew more about this party than she was telling me. What could there possibly be to explore? It was a party. I started to object. There was nothing I wanted less right now than to be near other people.

"Please, Haleigh. I don't want to go alone." She got down on her knees, her hands folded in front of her chest as though she was praying.

I sighed. She would not give up. "You know you're a pain, right?"

"The biggest pain in the world. Please, please, please?"

"Fine," I said. I didn't like her going to parties alone anyway. Trouble seemed to follow her. "I'll go."

She jumped up and wrapped her arms around me. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. You won't regret it."

My gut told me I would.

"Okay, get dressed. We have to leave soon."

"I am dressed."

"Jeans and t-shirt is not dressed, Haleigh," Alexis scolded.

"It's just a party, right?"

She sighed. "Fine. Wear that. You might be the most covered person there. That won't draw attention."

She was trying to bait me into dressing up, but it wouldn't work. People ignored me at parties because I didn't dress up. It kept me safe. Well, until they were too drunk to care anyway.
